This role will take a strategic view of the legal and compliance services as well as the management of the internal team and external consultants. This crucial role is both complex and challenging and will provide high level advice to senior management and the CEO.

The Position:

• Act as principle legal officer, providing expert and practical legal advice to key decision makers
• Develop and manage implementation of initiatives to ensure the organisation is fully compliant with legal and regulatory obligations
• Provide strategic and operational leadership and direction for a large, multi-skilled team
• Manage the interests of a diverse stakeholder group, demonstrating awareness of political sensitivities

The Requirements:

• Prior success managing a legal practice and creating a customer focused environment
• Demonstrated expertise in environmental and planning law, local government law, commercial and contract law, employment and safety law, property law or dispute management
• Exceptional communication skills; previous successful leadership and management of a large team
• Legal qualifications, including an unrestricted NSW practicing certificate and a solid understanding of compliance
